In Response to the Chinese President Hu Jintao's invitation, President of the Republic Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived Wednesday in Beijing. Saleh was welcomed by Chinese senior officials, ambassadors of Arab countries, Yemeni community and Yemeni businessmen in China.
During talks, President Hu said the friendship between China and Yemen has featured sincerity and mutual trust, and will continue to be enhanced. In addition, Hu hoped the two countries would increase cooperation in the fields of energy, infrastructure construction, and fishery. The President also praised Yemen for its support for China on the issue of Taiwan.
President Saleh expressed his sincere thanks to China for their support in various fields.
On the latest developments in the Middle East, President Hu said China is willing to work with Arab countries, including Yemen, to promote peace and development in the region.
